A British man was left continuing a bank deficit amounting to Ksh. 800, 000 after a dangerous gamble with a Nyali damsel identified as Samira Mumbi Kiarie.
According to the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Samira, 33, has been luring the foreigner online over the last couple of months, throwing her charm around him with promises of exceptional Mombasa love and passionate moments.
The Briton finally gave in and, as characteristic of many men acting under the spell of love, agreed to visit lady at her apartment in Nyali.
As the night slowly faded off, the man was getting ready for a steamy night ahead, genuinely salivating for the adorable coastal babe, oblivious of the trap he had fallen into.
No sooner had his taste buds aroused than the door flung open and two mean-looking men stormed in. One claimed to be Samira’s furious “husband” while the other flashed a fake police ID, throwing the panicky British man into confusion of a cornered cockroach.
In a characteristic mafia style, the “husband” accused the Brit of wrecking his home, as the fake cop threatened arrest. The Brit, too terrified and unable to coil himself around the fast-moving events was coerced into transferring a cool Sh800,000 to mobile phone numbers provided by the gang.
Once they confirmed receipt of cash, the trio calmly escorted their victim out as if they had just come from an intensive prayer session in which the Holy Spirit had rewarded them with a bundle of cash like manna from heaven.
Upon receiving the complaint, the DCI swung into action and launched a stealth pursuit, arresting Samira and one of her accomplices, Paul Webster Mangeni, aka Paulo.
Investigations revealed that the duo is part of a notorious syndicate that lures foreigners through dating sites, sets them up in Airbnbs, before robbing them of their hard-earned money.
The suspects have since been arraigned in court as authorities caution foreigners and members of the general public against emerging tricks used by fraudsters to steal reap where they never sowed.
